Snow in Brooklyn 2026

Brooklyn in winter carries a rare stillness. The snow softens the streets, the noise fades, and the city feels suspended in time.

In this work, the Rebbe of Lubavitch appears sculpted from ice, standing within a Brooklyn neighborhood as snow gently falls around him. The choice of ice as the medium for the figure is intentional and carries a profound meaning:

Fire Within the Cold: There is a powerful paradox at play here. The Rebbe, who is traditionally perceived as a source of spiritual warmth and "flaming fire," is depicted in ice. This symbolizes the soul's ability to illuminate and warm even the most "frozen" and mundane aspects of the physical world around us.

Water That Has No End: In Jewish tradition, Torah is compared to water. Ice is water that has taken a tangible, solid form. This represents how the teachings of Hasidism and the Rebbe’s leadership transform abstract spirituality into a concrete, present reality in the heart of the street and our daily lives.

The brushstrokes are expressive and textured, allowing the cold air and quiet atmosphere to move through the scene. The snow is not just weather—it represents silence, reflection, and presence.

“Snow in Brooklyn 2026” captures a moment where spirit, place, and time converge into a single frame.
